Instructions

Follow the steps and taste along the way.

  1. Prepare the pan and plums

Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Line a baking pan measuring approximately 20 × 30 cm with parchment paper. Cut the pitted plums into wedges.

  2. Combine the dry ingredients

In a bowl, mix the semolina, plain flour, baking powder, ground poppy seeds, and salt so the baking powder is evenly distributed.

  3. Mix the batter

In a second bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together. Add the yogurt, milk, oil, and lemon zest. Stir in the dry mixture just until no dry patches remain. Let the batter stand for 10 minutes so the semolina can absorb the liquid.

  4. Arrange the plums

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Arrange the plum wedges on top, cut side up, and press them gently into the batter.

  5. Bake and cool

Bake at 180 °C for about 35 minutes, until the edges are golden and a skewer inserted into the batter away from the plums comes out clean. Leave to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then cut into 8 slices. Serve warm or completely cooled.
